Hospitals, Medical Research Facilities, Long-Term Care Facilities

Healthcare facilities typically have a distinguished load profile with substantial demand peaks that are mainly caused by the HVAC system and its associated equipment such as large chiller plants, chilled and condenser water pumps, along with hot water heating pumps. The integration of existing and new variable frequency drives (VFDs) on air handlers and pumps allows very effective curtailment of demand peaks without adversely impacting operations or patients’ comfort. Savings and paybacks are usually very attractive due to the large amount of available equipment for intelligent demand control and the rather large power consumption.
